Should Martial Arts be a necessity for everyday life?

Explain why we should know or try at least one martial arts for self-defense. How does this feature impact how you see and feel about yourself?|||If I had never done martial arts I would probably give an ignorant answer but I have done it. What has it done for me? It, for one gave me more confidence in myself. People might say you don%26#039;t need martial arts for that, the point is it doesn%26#039;t matter where or how you find your confidence as long as you do and martial arts definately can do this for you.

People need to remember that truly practicing martial arts is also a spiritual thing not just a physical thing. This does NOT mean you worship things it simply means to be still and look within yourself. Think twice before you answer or act.

It changes EVERYTHING in a person. From your physical to your emotional to your mental. You are more aware of your surroundings not only to be aware of attackers but when the knife accidentally falls off the kitchen counter, you move faster or more accuratley to avoid it. It sounds silly but no knife stuck in my foot. Your stepping becomes firmer. When you do step wrong and twist your ankle you somehow find a way to counteract this as you know how your body can move and what it can withstand. If and when there is an injury it%26#039;s not as sever. (You are still human) as you are taught to focus and control. Pain is only an emotional thing.

Your emotions are somehow easier to deal with. Your mind simplifies things and stuff gets sorted. You become in touch with yourself.

You learn to %26quot;hear%26quot;, %26quot;see%26quot; and %26quot;feel%26quot; better. You are more aware of your surroundings which can so enrich you.

Accidents will still happen, emotions will still run, the mind will still get confused but because of your (correct) training you learn to accept. Accept you, your life, life out there and in turn you learn to deal with all of it.

Martial arts IS self-defence. It depends on the type or style that you are doing that perhaps differs in degrees of %26quot;self-defence%26quot;. I too have a problem with hurting people but if someone is trying to rape me or stab me or attack me in any way I wont hesitate to do what it takes to defend myself and preserve my life and my body.|||it%26#039;s a fine line between self defence and brutality.

i still struggle to accept tearing someone%26#039;s joints out and crippling them for life.

If its a few kicks and punches... then it%26#039;s more easily acceptable.

If u really want full self defence, buy a few guns and learn to shoot off your attacker%26#039;s knees or eyeballs|||it%26#039;s one life, friend. Learn to defend it! the world gets nastier day by day, our environment tears down by gangs, racism, war, global warming (can probably make people%26#039;s personalitys change), bullying, etc. That%26#039;s why a good instructor of a art is needed. It relieves stress, it%26#039;s healthy and builds muscle memory. Look at the shaolin monks and what they have accomplished in martial arts. Look at how relaxed and calm they are compared to american society.|||depends on the person. Ninjutsu is my religion - Hatsumi is my god... but he is not eternal which sux :(|||I think martial arts in necessary in everyday life because you never know if you will get in a fight. You want to be more prepare than have nothing. So I say it is best to do Martial Arts for self-defense, stronger mind sets, more endurance, will power, and confidence. Martial Arts is a life survivial skills that should be practice to improve ourselves and to aware thing that is unaspected, unpredicting timing.|||of course not

rather than self-D, it%26#039;ll be used by gangs to to more harm than protection
