Can you start martial arts in your late teens?

Im 16 well i will be 17 in a fortnight and im interested in taking up a kind of martial arts. I f i did take one up does anyone know what would be the best kind to take up. I%26#039;ve asked some of my friends this and they suggested kickboxing. any1 gt any ideas ????|||16, youre just a pup :D...yes in fact youre probably better off starting later as generally if you start as a child you will most likely lose interest by your teens, best get teen years out of the way first...|||If you don%26#039;t have any kinda experience with ANY marital art I%26#039;d suggest taking a moment and deciding what you want out of it.

Exercise, Fun, Self-Defense,Competition,Confidants.

Do you prefer your hands, legs, or using both in combination?

What kind of fighter or Martial artist do you want to be? Striker, Grappler, Submission Artist, or any combination with one as your fort.

That%26#039;s just a few things to get you thinking. There will also be certain Martial arts you will naturally be better at due to build, height, and Mind set, etc. If you have multiple choices in your area try everything and see what you gravitate towards the most or in other words enjoy most. If you enjoy it you%26#039;ll most likely stick to it and thus become better naturally by putting more time into it.

As for your age I%26#039;m 21 and always read about Martial Arts since I was little but didn%26#039;t have the chance to get into it till 18. You%26#039;ll learn a lot as you go as far as about yourself and whats real and what isn%26#039;t. Be sure to keep an open mind and be willing to examine everything carefully. Don%26#039;t believe everything mindlessly.

Ok I think thats enough (probably too much I have a tendacy to go on). I wish you luck and hope you enjoy whatever you choose.

|||If your interested in kickboxing, take a look at Muay Thai, or Thai boxing while you%26#039;re at it. Also take a look at Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). These are some of the few martial arts that are actually practical, but it the end, its all down to what you find works best for you. I know its a seriously unhelpful cliche, but it%26#039;s true. And as a response to your other question, yes, you can take up martial arts at any time. Hope this helps!|||If you wanna start a mma career than don%26#039;t take just one martial art there are probably fight clubs beside where you live and join them they%26#039;ll give you a program but if you want to start martial arts for fitness cardio kickboxing is the best or cardio boxing never go to karate or taekwondo if you wanna lose weight! Or if people are picking on you and you wanna defend yourself go to muay thai or judo.|||of course!no one is too old to start martial arts...

even some old people take up boxing when they retire.

if you want to take up a form of martial arts, first consider the reason for it,then you can find the suitable one|||Yes it%26#039;s ok.

Go find a good school, regardless of style and be weary of contracts.

Kick boxing is good most of the time because they do full contact sparring.|||of course you can.|||No, and kickboxing sucks
