Martial Arts?

Hello people!

I stopped playing cricket and football a while back due to a dislocated shoulder. But now its fully recovered and i was hoping to take up some kind of martial art. Id like to be able to defend myself if needed as i think it is something that everyone should be able to do! I am medium build, 17 years old, 6 foot. So hopefully ill be physically cable for most stuff. I have NO idea about martial arts, so some advice would be much appreciated! Thanyou! :)|||Hakko ryu jiu-jitsu, aikido, or any soft style of kung fu with your injuries.

Just keep in mind that the martial arts are not sport. You%26#039;re training yourself to defend yourself against violent assault, not score points to win trophies.|||depending on the martial arts you take and the type of school it is, you might be in for a big surprise for it being a strenuous workout. my dad was a wrestler and after starting an art called hap ki do, he said it was once of the hardest types of exercises he%26#039;s had.

as far as wanting to take a martial art to defend yourself...look into arts like muay thai or mixed martial arts. judo and hap ki do are good for defense. things like karate and tae kwon do are horrible to defend yourself, despite how many people think they can kick *** after getting their black belt. i know this and i%26#039;m a 2nd degree black in tae kwon do. all martial arts started off as a form of combat, but many if not most are now practiced for sport and have been watered down from the defensive days.|||for your size i dont think you may need to defend yourself, but as the above said tea kwon do and karate are more for attack like kicking and punches. you coudl try Brazlian jujitsu, but hap ki do, and judo are more about throws and locks better for defense, but do your reserch hit up wikipedia, i do hap ki do and love it
