What type of martial arts are taught in the Marine Corps?

Im wondering exactly what type of martial arts are taught in the Marine Corps so i can get a little bit ahead before i get shipped off to boot camp|||The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program teaches elements from krav maga, judo, jujitsu, eskrima, and many more. It%26#039;s not really style specific, they teach you how to defend yourself in the worse situations, like when your feet are so swollen from humping it through knee deep muddy water that it hurts to even stand on them. If you can join a martial arts club that will really beat you up and get you used to getting beat up, you%26#039;ll be off to a good start.|||Right now they teach the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). It is a blend of striking, grappling, and weapons techniques drawn from a variety of disciplines. There was a time when you could download their training manual from the internet, and it%26#039;s probably still on some website somewhere. The Israeli art of Krav Maga comes closer to MCMAP than any other system I%26#039;ve seen. You may want to give that a look-see. Of course, the way the military works, they may have another program by the time you get out of boot camp.|||It is called MCMAP, it is essentially basic Mixed Martial Arts (think UFC) with dirty tricks, weapons work, and other things like prisoner control tactics thrown in.

Don%26#039;t worry about preparing specifically for that. Just get in really really really good shape.|||in general the military frowns on soldiers training before they join they have a specific way they want you to train and do things and it is much more simple if they are working with a blank slate|||MCMAP Marine Corps Martial Arts Program
