Is martial arts effective in real life situations?

I have done taekwondo for nine years, karate and judo for three years and kung fu for last 6 months. And yet after all of this I have been beaten up three times in the last year, nothing seems to work and it always happens with people in groups, in real life situations can martial arts really work? |||Even though you have studied for many years, you still have to apply what you have learned effectively. In the Dojo you don%26#039;t have any stress to deal with when training. This could be the reason why you might be %26quot;locking up%26quot; when a stressful situation occurs. Don%26#039;t get focused on just one person.

I honeslty don%26#039;t think the martial arts would have the history if it wasn%26#039;t effective in real life situations. |||i did some karat茅 and jiu jitsu and it does help in real life situations.

the thing is that when in a fight you got to keep it simple unless you%26#039;re jet lee or something.you also need to understand that when you hit someone you want to hurt him not just push him away.you have one shot at it,(its not like on the tatami -%26quot;ah! i missed ..can we try it again..?%26quot;)so make it good.the problem with groups is that if they%26#039;re more then 2-3 you better run.there%26#039;ll always be one to hit you from behind.if they are 2-3 you go for the leader and knock him out ,you dont wait for them to close the distance.speed and force are essenicial in violence.

after all this is said the best way to not get beaten up is to avoid that kind of situation .the use of violence is for the most extreme moments only.|||it depends on who attack you in a fight...if the person is not train in fight and just attack blindly,you might be able to use what you learn to defend your self..but nowadays even thugs learn few martial arts move plus experience and some are hardcore bad guys....cause when some one attacked you,they would not tell you when or where they wanna beat you up...even if your reflex is good,but if the attacker is also damn good and fast..you would not even have yhe chance...you saw in full contact tournament fights is not like in the movies..its always clumsy and messy cause its not chreogragph...but learning martial art definitely will help you in defending yourself rather than not knowing at all right?but doesnt guarantee you not get beaten up....in ufc both opponent are train in MMA but both are beaten and one of them defintely are going to lose but the winner also doesnt escape from getting punch....but remember if there are more than 2 assailant chances are you will definitely lose and might injure yourself or .kill you.so the best way is to run or fight your way to escape...dont try to confront them and fight.....learning multiple attack in MMA is just a guideline but not 100% effective.real fights are not planned or stage like in dojos or movies|||ofcourse they work. you just have to wake up and get realistic, get out of the mcdojos.

without proper technique, training/conditioning, or strategy you will generally lose your fights.

without internal training your techniques will be unreliable and deemed a %26quot;carnival trick%26quot;.

i suggest learning an authentic style of kung fu from a sifu that knows how to fight and knows how to teach.

|||No.

Don%26#039;t think so.

Only good for action movie as actor.

For entertainent only.

Most of them gone back to the graveyards in time.

And was lost with time too.

Even those with black belts too.

What do you think?|||I%26#039;ve been in a few fights and honestly martial arts training has helped me get out. The worst I got was a bloody nose. So I think it is effective.|||Avoid fights in real life. Martial arts can give you an edge, but they don%26#039;t turn you into Jackie Chan.
